DESIGN

This is a courtyard garden, enclosed by the original rough London brick walls. Tall slender trees were chosen for their attractive bark and good autumn colour. Sourcing a rare silver skinned pine that would give structure, the needles adding texture. Planted in a loose formation their canopies creating a plume of textured leaves for the floor above, while also providing privacy for the terrace below. Floor bricks laid loosely on a bed of sand allow free drainage of rain water and can be laid around the tree trunks. The garden draws upon gardens visited in China.
